General Requirements

To become a member, students must satisfy the following preliminary requirements:

(1) Applicant must be a student registered at Berkeley Law in one of the following programs:

  • J.D.
  • Concurrent Degree Programs
    • J.D./JSP
    • J.D./M.A. (four years)
    • J.D./M.A./Ph.D. (Economics Department, JSP)
    • J.D./M.B.A. (Haas)
    • J.D./M.C.P. (Department of City and Regional Planning)
    • J.D./M.J. (Graduate School of Journalism)
    • J.D./M.P.P. (Goldman School of Public Policy)
    • J.D./M.S.W. (Graduate School of Social Welfare)

(2) Applicant must not have already received a J.D. at Berkeley Law or any other law school.

(3) Applicant must have two (2) years remaining as a Berkeley Law student

(4) Applicant must be able to serve two (2) consecutive years on CLR


The California Law Review is the preeminent legal publication at the UC Berkeley School of Law.
Founded in 1912, CLR publishes six times per year on a variety of engaging topics in legal scholarship.
The law review is edited and published entirely by students at Berkeley Law.
