Symposium Proposals

The California Law Review is now accepting Symposium topic proposals for the Spring 2027 semester.

Submission Guidelines

We are looking for proposals that seek to address timely issues and contribute meaningfully to legal scholarship. In your written proposal, please address each of the following elements:

  • A description of the symposium, and particularly how it is timely and contributes to legal scholarship

  • A tentative list of symposium speakers.

  • An anticipated budget and source of funding. Financial and logistical arrangements will not be the responsibility of the California Law Review.

  • The names and contact information of two point people with whom the California Law Review can communicate regarding logistics, travel, and organization.

  • An acknowledgment that publication is not guaranteed to any speaker and that the California Law Review has full discretion in selecting the pieces to publish.

  • A tentative timeline and date for the symposium (symposium must take place in the 2027 Spring Semester, between January 11, 2027 - April 23, 2027).

We accept proposals of varying lengths and formats, however we request that you try to keep proposals under ten pages.

If selected, the Symposium Editor will contact you by phone and/or email with an offer of publication.

Withdrawal Policy

If you accept an offer of publication from another journal, please notify us via the California Law Review symposium email to withdraw your submission as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact Symposium Editor DeShawn Carter at clrsymposia@gmail.com.
